About Central Kowloon Route

Central Kowloon Route (“CKR”) is a dual three-lane carriageway with a total length of 4.7km, linking Yau Ma Tei Interchange of West Kowloon with Kai Tak Development Area and road network of Kowloon Bay, forming a trunk road across central Kowloon. The CKR is an alternative express route, alleviating the traffic congestion of the existing major east-west transport corridors in central Kowloon. By constructing CKR, the surrounding environment will be improved, with greening and landscaping elements, re-provision of public facilities, and conservation of cultural heritage. Necessary environmental protection measures will also be implemented during the construction period.

Journey Time

Between West Kowloon and Kowloon Bay

CKR is an alternative express route bypassing the congested transport corridors and significantly reduces the journey time. Upon commissioning, the traveling time between West Kowloon and Kowloon Bay will be shortened to about 5 minutes, when comparing to a journey time of 30 minutes during peak hours without CKR. CKR will also alleviate road congestion by substantially reducing the traffic volumes on the currently congested major east-west transport corridors. It also brings similar benefits to the neighbouring areas including Wong Tai Sin, Ho Man Tin and Kowloon City.
