Central Kowloon Route - Yau Ma Tei East

Night Works for Gascoigne Road Flyover Noise Enclosures Installation Works

The construction of Gascoigne Road Flyover noise enclosures is one of the major works under the Central Kowloon Route – Yau Ma Tei East Contract. The works comprise the construction of an approximately 550m long noise enclosure at a section of Gascoigne Road Flyover from Yaumati Catholic Primary School to Nathan Road. During the construction, sections of the Gascoigne Road Flyover and Ferry Street will be utilized to facilitate the installation works.

Night Works

The noise enclosures installation works have to be carried out at night. The Contractor will employ the quietest practicable working methods, including adopting appropriate noise mitigation measures and low-noise equipment. The workers will also be reminded to keep their communication to the lowest possible volume to minimize the impact on nearby residents.

Optimise Construction with Innovative Technology

With the help of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) was adopted and thus the majority of the fabrication and assembling works could be done in the day time in order to minimize the night time site work. The BIM also facilitates the construction planning and improves the work efficiency.

Temporary Traffic Arrangements

As the Gascoigne Road Flyover is a major route in Kowloon, to minimize the impact on traffic, the noise enclosures installation works have to be carried out at night. During the night works, relevant sections of the Gascoigne Road Flyover and Ferry Street will be temporarily closed and corresponding temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented according to the installation location. Please refer to Temporary Traffic Arrangements 1, 2 and 3 below.

To minimize inconvenience caused to the drivers, the Contractor will avoid frequently changing the temporary traffic arrangements when planning daily installation works. Appropriate traffic signs will also be placed at concerned locations to guide the drivers.

During the implementation of temporary traffic arrangements, drivers should follow on-site temporary traffic signs to their destinations accordingly. For details of the temporary traffic arrangements and diversion routes, please refer to the Central Kowloon Route traffic notice and Transport Department notice.
